8 Year Kid, Suffering From Penis Pain, Stinging After Showering. What Could Be This?

My son occasionally complains of penis pain and stinging after showering. He is 8 yrs old. I looked and don't really see any abnormality on the penis, such as redness or swelling. I also checked his urine last week and it was clear. He is circumcised. This incidence has only happened approx 3 times in the 4 months. When it happens he screams and cries and wants to squeeze it. The only thing he can tell me is that it feels like a bee is stinging him and doesn't even want clothes to touch it. And usually takes about 10 min to get him to calm down after the episode. Any ideas?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

As the penis is normal externally without any signs of infection, I advise you to give his urine sample for complete urine examination to look for any urine infection.

Local irritation of urethra by the soap or shampoo may be the reason for this type of discomfort as it is occurring after showering.

Examine for any local redness after bath.

Complete urine examination will rule out the infection.

Some times a small stone at the tip of urethral opening will cause this type of pain.

Consult the pediatrician for local examination to look for any local problems.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
