9 Weeks Pregnant, Low Fetal Weight, No Heart Beat. Ultrasound Done. Cause Of Concern?

I went in for a trans vaginal untrasound yesterday. i thought I was 9 weeks but baby measured at 7w 5 days. The nurse said she could see the pregnancy and it was in the right place but could not find the heart beat. I was scheduled to have an official untrasound tomorrow. Could it just be to early to see? Could the baby have just been in a position that the heart was not visible?

Hi there,

I would suggest that you get a repeat transvaginal ultrasound after 1 week. If everything is normal, fetal heart rate should be detected by then.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
