95 Year Old, Fracture In The Back, Doctor Wants To Put Cement, Insert Pacemaker To Improve Pulse. Second Opinion?
My mother who is to turn 95 this next month fell and broke 2 bones in her back. The want to put cement into the brakes to stabilize them, but since she s been in the hospital her pulse has at times dropped to 39 and hovers around 66. Now the cardiologist wants to insert a pacemaker and I m wondering if that would help or hurt her?
I think there is no other option as far as pacemaker is concern because you can not survive without heart so get pacemaker as soon as possible. As far as vertebra fracture is concern, you can put cement after then . It is not a emergency at present. You can also avoid this. This decision can be taken after this pacemaker thing is done.
