Abdominal Cramps, Sweating, Dizziness After Eating Banana On Empty Stomach. Food Poisoning?
I am a 50 year old male in good physical shape. Yesterday, I ate a banana on a relative;ly empty stomach. 30 minutes later, I had strong upper abdominal cramps, with sweating and dizzyness. Felt like food poisoning, and when I stood up to go to the bathroom, I fainted -- and blacked out for about 5 seconds. After hydrating myself, I soon felt better. But no diarrhea or unusual bowl movement afterwards, yet no further symptoms or problems. Could it still have been a quick dose of food poisoinng, or something else?
It is unlikely that you had a food poisoning. The symptoms seem to be due to a syncope - perhaps related to vascular/cardiogenic or postural syncope.
At 50 years of age, I would not like to neglect this event. A comprehensive check up of blood sugars, blood pressure, heart and EKG is advisable. Talk to your primary care physician and if needed fix an appointment with a cardiologist.
Hope this was helpful.
Good luck!!
