Aching Legs Due To Fractured Disc, Depression. PSA Test 35.9. Explain

Hello my husband turns 62 next month, he fractured a disc in a car accident over a year ago and been on pain killers ever since, and been waking up every night with aching legs ever since. Just recently he has been urinating frequently so he went and got a PSA test done which came back at 35.9. The doctor has booked him into the specialist next week.
Firstly what does the PSA reading of 35.9 mean
Secondly how can I keep him positive as he is depressed and can only think about dying.

Hi and thanks for using this forum.
I am sincerely sorry about what your husband is going through at this time.

PSA reading of 35.9 is well beyond the upper limit of normal. What are the possible causes? it can range from very simple and treatable conditions like prostatitis to more concerning one like cancer of the prostate. No matter the diagnosis, treatment depends on what the final diagnosis is. We always think of the worst possibility and it is not strange your husband is think same.

How to keep him positive? Tell him we can only solve known problems. if this appointment will help us identify the problem, then we are a step closer to providing him better care and outcome, and i believe this is what he has been longing for. It is in no way making the burden heavier or death closer than not knowing what the problem is. Also, remind him no matter what the outcome is, your love and support will always be there and you both will triumph.

I hope you find this helpful. I wish him the best out of these investigations.
