Acid Reflux, Phlegm, Difficulty In Swallowing Food. Treatment?
I have some issues with phlem(? Spelling) I have a hard time swallowing food sometimes gets stuck an I have a hard time with food that travels to the stomach. I also have a problem with Acid Reflux, and I probably weigh too much as well which may be a contributing factor. I think or I feel that the passage to my throat has been restricted, what may be wrong?
Gastroesophageal reflux is associated with different symptoms including the feeling as though food is stuck.
In some cases ,persons with severe reflux can develop strictures (narrowing of the passage ) in the esophagus which would contribute to this sensation.
Gastroesphageal reflux disease is treated by : reducing the use of spicy/fatty/fired/citrus foods, using small meals, elevating the head of the bed, waiting at least 2 hrs before lying down after a meal, weight loss to reduce the pressure on the stomach to push back up the food.
You may want to consider visiting your doctor for an evaluation of the difficulty swallowing , he or she may suggest an imaging study to determine if there is anything obstructing the flow of food.
I hope this helps
