Acute Pain In Back, Numbness In Finger Tips And Tips Of Toes With Pain. On Vitamin Tablets For Vit D Deficiency And Crestor For Cholestrol. Advice

Hi
since last two days I have developed an acute pain in my back. I also noticed that the finger tips of both hands, entire thumb from the base in both hands, and finger tips on both legs are having numbness. With hand fingers, it pains when I try to make a fist. This is strange because I regularly do Yoga and one of the exercises I do is forming fist few times as a part of all-joints exercise. I am known to be Vitamin D deficient and have started taking tablets to make up since last couple of weeks. I also take half mg of crestor for cholestrol. Would appreciate an advise. regards Vijay

Hi dear

welcome to the platform of health care magic,

As you have described your symptoms I can make out that you are developing some irritation at your cervical region, which can cause all these symptoms of yours.

Cervical Xray is required to make the diagnosis.

If there is compression/muscle spasm/ or any extra growth of cervical rib or vertbrae . Then it should be taken care well by some orthopedic surgeon.

Muscle relaxant medicines and physiotherapy will be the main treament point to get you some relief.

Hope your query is answered

Thanks

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
Your symptoms are likely to be due to nerve root compression due to mild disc protrusion. A follow up MRI scan will help in confirming the findings.
Since there is only numbness of the affected area it suggests that the affection of nerve root is only minimal.
Such minor symptoms are usually taken care of by Methylcobalamin supplements which you can take after consulting your orthopedician
Hope this helps you.
Wishing you good health...
Regards.
Dr Saurabh Gupta.
