After An Abdominal Hysterectomy, Why Do I Have Pain Near Groin Area?

I had an abdominal hysterectomy 14 days ago and I have a very bad pain in my left groin area where my thigh meets the groin. It is tender to the touch and very painful after standing or sitting fir very long. If I cough or sneeze it actually feels like the muscles are on fire and are ripping.

Hi there.

This is definitely a complication of the surgical process.

Either it is due to damage of the Ilioinguinal nerve which is causing a radicular type of pain.
This nerve can sometimes be injured during the surgery.
Or it is due to inguinal hernia due to weakening of the lower abdominal structures which has caused some abdominal structure to seep into the inguinal region.

Kindly consult your operating surgeon an get an abdominal ultrasound done.

For pain relief you could take tramodol .
Take complete bed rest and avoid strenuous activity of any sort.

I hope my advice has helped .
Good luck .
