Allergic Reaction To Shellfish, The Rashes, Sore Throat, Headache Have Reduced. Knees, elbows, Fingers Painful. Prescribed Pain Killers And Antihistemine. Symptoms Persist?
i had an allergic reaction to shellfish, the rashes, sore throat and headache have all gone but my knees, elbows ,some of my fingers are very painful to the extent that I can barely lift a cup and struggled tl get out of bed. the symptons have lasted nearly a week. I was told by my doctor to take painkillers and piriton anti histemine. i have done so. Do i need to worry that these symptoms persist?
Hi, the allergic symptoms were due to the shell fish, and the superfecial symptoms have come down, first, then the deeper structures like joints may take some time for cure. I to my patients with such symptoms prescribe levocitrizine, prednisolone, and antibiotics and anti inflamatories for cure. Thank you.
Hello, It is unusual for acute food allergic symptoms to last for so long, as it is usually because of undertreatment in the acute phase. Steroids, long acting histamines are required for the first 1-3 days, until symptoms have completely resolved.
You need to ensure you did not have a scromboid toxin poisoning due to the seafood (fish), as this can also cause symptoms to last that long. Scromboid toxin is not an allergic reaction, but rather like food poisoning, only much worse than your usual type. Please see your doctor if these symptoms continue until tomorrow.
once the allergy occurs it takes 3 week to revert to normal after 3 wk along with taking the medicines take anti allergic tab once a day for 3 week take ebastine 10 mg once a day apply antiallergic ointment on affected parts avoid ibuprufen paracetamolaspirindisprin for pain as it trigger allergy take diclofenic aciclofenic or mefanic acid for pains avoid the food you are allergic to in future
