Ankle Twisted, Have Drop Foot, No Feeling And RSD In Left Foot. Should I See Podiatrist Or Orthopedic ?

Hello, I went to see a podiatrist/ankle specialist, because I fell a week ago and I twisted my ankle. the problem is I have drop foot, no feeling in my left leg and foot, and RSD in left foot. so I did feel a small amount of pain, so I figured I must have injured it to have felt it. I continued on my day. a week later when I went to see dr. because it had a lot of swelling. he examined me and determined that I destroyed my ligaments. he recommended fusion. what would u recommend and is the podiatrist the right dr. or should I be seen by ortho?

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

With history of ankle twisting there are possibilities of ligament injury. As your doctor has diagnosed by examination. any ligament tear need to be corrected properly.

As you have mentioned about loss of sensation in leg which is unusual with ligament injury. It could be due to nerve injury supplying that part of leg. So that needs to be examined, weather is there any nerve injury or any compression over nerve due to swollen foot.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
