Any Opinion For High BP Even After Taking 50 Mg Of Tenormin In A 68 Yr Old Hypertensive Woman?

i am a 68 old female .i am hypertensive since 15 years taking tenormin 25 mg. but it is remaining high especially in winter i am taking tenormin 50 mg now . but my blood pressure still remains 165\70, my systolic pressure is remaining high now. please give me you expert opinion thanks

Hello, and thank you for the question.

Atenolol is not a particularly effective blood pressure drug, especially when used alone. Your doctor might consider adding a second medication, or gradually discontinuing the atenolol and adding a new and more effective medication.
