Any Suggestion For Sickle Cell Disease?

I need info for a recently diagnosed SCD. This was detected during a sleep study. There has not been any incidents. Doctor is slow in returning results, doesn t seems to be in a hurry to give us options, so we can get some things done. Can you give me some guidance? Since there has not been a heart attack, shouldn t a lot of this be taken of by surgery, diet, exercise? Thank you for your opinion.

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

Please, how old is this patient. If he is an adult and has never been diagnosed as having sickle cell disease, then this diagnosis would be very unlikely. SCD is not diagnosed during a sleep study. Rather blood tests are required to get this diagnosed. Unless he has specific health issues, I will recommend that you stay calm and hear from the doctor about the definitive diagnosis before getting worried about this. I believe you should not.
