Any Suggestion For Concentration Difficulty, Cold, Difficulty Losing Weight After Thyroid Removal?
I had my thyroid removed six years ago. Hashimoto s, nodules and difficulty maintaining normal thyroid levels for more than ten years prior to surgery. Just had full panel thyroid blood work and my T3 is low (51) and antibody is high (97). Symptoms: cold all the time, difficulty concentrating, cannot lose weight (have tried Weight Watchers with some success over several years and then a 1200 calorie diet over several months with no success). I m frustrated and would like to know if there are any suggestions you may have??? Thank you.
Hi, What surgery was done? Was it a total removal of thyroid gland or a partial removal?. If your hormone levels are low, you will need to start on Thyroxine replacement and that will improve the symptoms.
The raised antibody levels is consistent with Hashimoto's disease. Antibody levels can be seen elevated for sometime, even if the thyroid was removed. Please meet your doctor to arrange a Free T4 and TSH tests and based on that he can decide if you require Thyroxine replacement
