Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,
As you probably know, usual febrile illnesses last for a week at the most. Persisting high grade fever warrants thorough physical examination. As your doctor has rightly done, blood culture result is off paramount importance. High fever as with your daughter is common in urinary tract infection and malaria. Since India is endemic for malaria, it might help the doctor in America if you request for investigation to rule out malaria and typhoid. If fever and lethargy persist, also bear in mind that your daughter may need to be hospitalised
