Any Suggestion For Popcorn Stuck In Throat Causing Pain While Swallowing?

My 7 year old son ate popcorn which got stuck in his throat 4 days and has struggled to eat since saying that it hurt to swallow. Is it possible that he has scratched his throat or there is still something there? I am cocerned that he now has a fear of eating.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pop corn struck in throat which is acting as foreign body there and can cause swelling as well as infection. Do warm saline gargles. Avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. Take luke warm water with turmeric dissolved in it. Your symptoms will start resolving, if symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Start proper antibiotic course after thorough examination. Go for fibroptic scan if your symptoms are not resolving at all to find out exact cause and then start treatment. Avoid cold carbonated beverages.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
