Any Suggestion For Throbbing Pain In Left Temple Area With Negative Temporal Arteritis Test?

Hi, for about 5 months now, I have been experiencing throbbing in my left temple area which is worse when resting / sleeping. I have had MRI scan and blood test for temporal arteritis which came back negative. I am at square one again and really not sure where to go next.

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

The possibilities are either, Temporal Migraines or, Cluster headaches. The latter tend to occur at around the same time everyday, lasting for a few minutes or up to 2-3 hours. On the other hand, Migraines usually last for more than 4 hours (up to as long as 72 hours) and may be associated with nausea, vomiting, streaking lights, colored halos and intolerance to light/sounds.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me and prescribe suitable treatment.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.
