Any Suggestion For Unable To Walk After Having L45 Micro Decompression Surgery?

I had a back operation 6 weeks ago for a disc that was sitting on a nerve and apparetly the bones were very crumbly. The operation was L45 MICRO DECOMPRESSION. The operation was a success but I cannot walk unaided. Bearing in mind that Iwalked into the hospital but came out with a zimmer. They are assuring me that I will walk but Iam getting depressed as the weeks are moving on and a holiday is booked for september. What would be your advise. Regards thankyou.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It takes some time for proper walking if this is the spinal cord operation of L 4 L 5 nerve decompression.

Have patience, complete recovery may take 3 to 4 weeks or even more. You have to go for physiotherapy for quick and better recovery.

The only thing is the operation must have been done nicely. If no result seen even after couple of weeks then you have to inform the doctor about this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
