Are Tylenol And Oxycodone In The Same Medicine Family?

i want to know if tylenol 4 and oxycodone are in the same medicine family ?will they show up the same in a urine test or woould the tylenol show up like lortabs ?the reason i'm asking is pm told me my urine test for may showed i had lortabs in my system and i haven't taken nothing but my oxycodone and tylenol 4 ,which was concidera old med because it was giving to me with dental work a month ago but my pm ok'ed for me to get it !and i ran out of my pain meds due to a mix up in my appointment !!i done with out anything for 7 days but i hurt so bad and i had the tylenol left so i took it !!i didn;t know i could get kicked out of pm clinic because of this ,i was honest and told them i took the tylenol and if i had taken the lortabs i would have told them so!!i know they don't really believe me but i didn't take any !!

Thank you for the query. First of all you have to know that Tylenol contains Codine, an opioid analgesic almost same like Oxycodone. Though Oxycodone is better analgesic as it's action is greater than Codine in smaller doses. And you talk about Lortabs which also contains Oxycodone derivative(Hydrocodone). So there is no question of believing of the doctor who is testing your urine, whichever tablet(oxycodone/Tylenol/Lortab) you take it will show up in your urine test as a narcotic intake for about 4 to 5 days after your last dose of medicine. I would like to tell you that both tyenol and oxycodone will show up in the urine test if you have consumed them.
I would suggest you to avoid taking the drugs and visit to the Dentist and get the prescription changed to drugs like diclofenac sodium which is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and has not been reported to show up on an urine drug test.
