Are Anal Itching And White Spots On Face Due To Worms?

Hi Doctor am a female 25 years and I am suffering from anal itching.. also I observed white spots on my face .. Can this be due to worms? I stay in hostel where washroom is shared by many students. Since I shifted there I am suffering from this problem.. Kindly help. Regards.

Thanks for writing in.

It is possible that the anal itching is from pin worms and the white spots on your face might be from nutritional deficiency from eating hostel food or not eating properly.

Anal and groin itching can also be from fungal infection which happens due to wearing clothes that are not washed properly and not dry. Please take care in getting clothes washed properly and dry it completely before using it.

You can take one pill of albendazole 400 mg to stop the worms and if the itching continues then take another pill after 15 days. If the treatment with this medicine does not help then please get antifungal ointment after asking your doctor and use it as recommended.

When using toilet please wash the seat with water and maintain hygiene and keep yourself clean. Please do not worry.
