Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has been complaining of pain from the center to left side of his back for several days. After applying a heating pad (over his shirt), I noticed 3 blisters on the left side of his back. Could it be the initial stage of Shingles? He had Shingles 2 yrs. ago but the rash formed a belt around his back. What should he do?
Pain, burning, numbness or tingling ,Sensitivity to touch, red rash that begins a few days after the pain,Fluid-filled blisters and itching are some of the common presentations of shingles.Herpes zoster or shingles usually present on one side of the body.
Herpes zoster is usually treated with orally administered acyclovir. Other antiviral medications include famciclovir and valacyclovir. The antiviral medications are most effective when started within 72 hours after the onset of the rash.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
