Are Cellulitis And Pneumonia Caused Due To Cortisone Injections?
I have spinal stenosis and my disks have degenerated between two vertebrae so that I am now bone on bone. They try RF burning and some cortisone injections. The RF burning seems to help for a short time with radiating pain but after the last cortisone injection I got a fever then I got cellulitis within a day, while being treated for the cellulitis developed pleurisy and pneumonia, don t know if the cortisone had something to do with me becoming so sick. Found it strange that it happened like that. But having no relief in pain from these shots and don t know what to do now.
It is unlikely related to steroid. However, steroid treatment can cause delayed healing and spread of infection will be faster while you are on steroid. Steroids has to be stopped until the cellulitis settles completely.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
