Are Fat Free Foods No Longer Unhealthy?

I am going to be 88 in May and feel that for my age I am in good health. Recently I moved into a retirement community so I no longer provide meals for myself. I do have high cholesterol but am careful about consuming high cholesterol food. Recently I read an article that said fat free foods are no longer considered unhealthy. Could this be correct? I am not exercising as much as I did when in my own home but I wonder if this could be more important than I have led myself to believe.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are a lot of issues concerning fat free vrs low carbohydrate foods.

Many persons have varying ideas. It is recognized that though the fat consumption has decreased drastically, the levels of obesity and associated illness have risen because of an increase in carbohydrate intake.

High fat intake, particularly trans fat or very high sat fat, are still not recommended but in general , a balance needs to be maintained.

I hope this helps
