Are Frequent Urination And Brownish Spotting Normal After Taking Plan B?
I took Plan B, and am having frequent urination and light brownish spotting. Is this normal? I ve recently had a medical abortion because of health risks, and would hate to go through this again. Does having a medical abortion make Plan B less effective? I ve taken it 6 days ago, and I m just very worried. I ve taken two negative at home pregnancy tests. I fear it is too early to tell, but I want to know as soon as possible, of course. I didn t see frequent urination as a possible side effect, and am suffering no other symptoms.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse to prevent unwanted or unplanned pregnancy. The pill would offer protection by causing withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of intake of pill. Sometimes, during this time, you might experience frequent urination due to irritation of urethra or due to mild urinary tract infection. You need to drink good quantity of water and citrus fruit juices to overcome it. You could also experience brown spotting due to endometrial or cervical secretions following intake of Plan B and before the actual bleeding takes place. Kindly wait for your periods to happen and in case it does not happen within the specified time, you need to seek medical attention without any further delay. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
