Are Generic Medications Bioequivalent To Trade Name Medications ?

Are generic medications Bioequivalent to tradename medications ? In other words, do generic medications, dissolve, get absorbed, and give EXCATLY the same blood levels as tradename medications ? If so, who is doing this testing & where can the results be found ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Normally there should be no difference in the drug contained in a pill with the generic or trade name. They should be the same. The pharmacodynamic characteristics should be the same as well (absorption, dilution, blood levels, etc).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
