Are Having Chest Tightness, Severe Cough And Laryngitis Sign Of Flu?

Thanks, we think we might have the flu. My 87 year old husband and I, at 82, both began with a chest constriction and then with terrible coughs and laryngitis. We hate to go to the doctor to expose other people in the office. I am a diabetic and he has good health, but did many years ago have a by pass operation. His most recent physician s report was excellent. We are taking an antibiotic and some cough medications. The laryngitis is unusual for me. Runny nose and heavy coughing on my part. Less on his. I thought that is was allergies, but with both of us in this situation, with similar actions, I was not sure. Thanks,
