Are Hearing Loss And Weight Gain Side Effects Of Encorate Chrono 500 Mg?

For epilepsy in my cousin , who is 40 years old , He uses encroate chrono 500 once in morning and twice at night with frisium 15 mg. he is facing weight gain( 10 kg in 6 months). Any other side effect ? Is hearing loss also its side effect. Thanks sanjay sharma

Encorate Chrono 500 mg contains Sodium Valproate which is used mainly for fits in Epilepsy.
Sodium Valproate has many side effect like indigestion, weight gain, blurring of vision, tremor, hair loss , headache, vomiting etc.
Hearing loss is not a side effect of this drug.
You mcan substitute it with other levetiracetam drug which has very few side effects.
Brands available in India are levipil and Keppra.
Also, it has no significant drug interactions with others. So, it can be safely used with his other medications.
But please consult your doctor.
