Are High Heart Rate And Headache Effects Of Coming Off Atenolol?

I have been taking atenolol 100mg since 2011 for tachycardia. I have recently been switched to diltiazem 120mg and I am feeling TERRIBLE. My heart rate is back up, seems postural and I have had a headache for 4 days. I know there can be a rebound effect when stopping atenolol but my Dr thought the diltiazem would take care of that. Any chance that is what I am experiencing and how long does it usually last?

Hello,
Your heart rate has increased because atenolol, a beta blocker, was stopped. The same can be the cause if you have throbbing headache.
Why was the medicine changed? I think you should be back on it if there is no contraindications.
If you have further questions I'm willing to answer them.
