Are Laxatives The Only Solution For A Painful Life After Having Large Bowels Removed?

Two years a go I had half my large bowel removed because by the time surgeon operated it had died. My bowel has stopped working .Plus i am in pain most days. What can be done to help. I live on laxatives. I really have had Enough ). Fay McArthur ( YYYY@YYYY )

Hi. This is unusual to have a constipation after partial removal of the colon; in fact loose motions is a major problem most of the patients suffer.
This contrasting symptom has to be diagnosed by doing colonoscopy or contrast X-ray studies. There may be an obstructing lesion and may need treatment.
