Are Lumps On The Back Incision After A Spinal Fusion Surgery Normal?

Yes I am 7 weeks post op from spinal reduction and spinal fusion surgery from T11 thru L5. I have noticed a lump to left of the incision on my back and was told by the PA that is the hardware. Is that normal? I am not a thin person. 5 feet about 160 lbs

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

I agree with your PA that this could be the hardware. But I recommend performing an X ray study of the vertebral column in this region, just to be sure that everything is OK. Anyway, as long as you have no pain or inflammation in this area, there is nothing to worry about.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
