Are Nausea And Headaches Side Effects Of Cymbalta?

I started on Cymbalta 30 mg last week for depression and lower back pain and right knee pain(having knee replacement in August) I am a female, 67 years old. I was given this drug by my neurologist as I also have peripheral neuropathy. I cannot sleep, am nauseated, cannot keep any food on my stomach, and I am having headaches? I discontinued because I am not eating; have not taken since Friday night. I had been on Amitripyline 75mg since 2000 and was weaned off of it. Are these symptoms to be expected? Should I start back on it?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

These symptoms are common side effects of Cymbalta.
Usually they go away on its own in a few days.
If the symptoms continue you should consult your doctor for an alternative medication.
