Are Nodules And Cyst In Thyroid A Cause For Concern?

I am 46 years old female. Last night I woke up laying on my right side and my left arm was numb. I also had heavy pain in middle of chest. I have complained to my doctor but EKG was fine. I recently had ultra sound of thyroid and found out that I have nodules and cyst. My doctor wants me to wait 6 month to have another ultra sound. I really don t feel comfortable about this. I was diagnosed at 38 years old with breast cancer so I really feel I should see specialist.

Dear thanks for the question.

I share your concerns. Firstly you should believe your doctor.

If I were your doctor I would have done thyroid profile (t3, t4, tsh) and cell study from nodules (FNAC) To allay your worries and come to correct diagnosis.

If you had taken treatment for breast cancer in time before spreading to other organs, thyroid nodules are not related to breast cancer. Your other problems are also not related to thyroid or breast cancer. Numbness in hand is related to cervical vertebrae pathology. Pain in midline of chest is due to acid reflux.

You can meet a general practitioner for help. Or you can take omeperzole , ibuprofen and multivitamin tablets till you visit a doctor.
