Are Popping Sound And Extreme Pain Normal For Slight Achilles Rupture?
Hello during game pickleball my right Achilles tendon popped and I collapsed to the floor. Couple guys helped me to my truck and went in to see my primary doctor that afternoon. This was on a Friday on Tuesday the next week was in to see orthopedic surgeon who did not really do any checking just listening to my story. He schedule me for Thursday afternoon surgery for ruptured Achilles tendon. On Wednesday I called his office asked about getting an MRI or ultrasound. That afternoon got ultrasound and results said slight tear Achilles, tendonities, and some thinking. Nurse called said could cancel surgery but needed to wear my boot. I m suppose to revisit surgeon on the 21st. My question is with a slight tear would you hear a popping sound and collapse to floor, I can t raise up on my toes no strength. Is this normal for slight tear, do I get a second opinion. Thank you Don Williams
You can consider second opinion. But your complaints can be due to partial tear. Conservative treatment, as suggested by your doctor will help you get better
