Are Red Patches & Fever A Side Effect Of The Antibiotics Taken For Ear Infection?

My son went to the doctor today for an ear infection and started antibiotics thsi afternoon. this evening, he has large red patches on his forearms that are very hot to the touch while the rest of his arms are not. He is also running a temperature. What is causing this?

Hi,
The red patches are likely to be a reaction to the antibiotics. The fever is probably due to his ear infection. I suggest you consult your doctor for a change of antibiotics. In the meantime try paracetamol to reduce the temperature and drink plenty of water to ensure good hydration.
