Are Severe Jaw Pain And Tightness In Chest Symptoms Of Heart Attack?
I am a 52 year old woman that has heart issues that run in the family. My father had his first heart attack and bypass surgery at the age of 55. Because he had hardening of the arteries they told him he would be back for another by pass within 10 years. We he was back at age 68. I have been having a dull pain in my chest like my bra is to tight for a week. I went to the Dr. and the did an ekg and said it was inconclusive so they have taken blood and set me up for a cta on Wednesday. Saturday morning at around 5am I woke up to severe jaw pain in my upper jaw and tightness in my chest. It lasted for a while. I did take asprin. Could I have been experiencing a heart attack and it just went away. I stayed in bed all day because I was scared to do anything and then Sunday I felt fine. Today I went back to Dr. to find out my cholesteral is 289 for the bad and 140 for the good. Should I be worried and should I be doing something while waiting for my cta which is not until Wednesday. Am I a ticking timebomb?
The symptoms you mention in query are not at all a good sign . I would strongly suggest you to deal with this situation seriously . Sometimes clenching of teeth at night also give such symptoms in the morning but as you define chest tightness as one of the symptoms and your cholesterol level , you should wait for CTA test and in the mean while consult good cardiologist and discuss the chest pain with him/her . Doctor may prescribe medicines for emergency like nitroglycerin and also conduct test like TMT and ECG to confirm the diagnosis .Till the stay calm , no need to panic and do not exert your body .
