Are Sharp Inconsistent Nerve Pain In My Left Ribs And Small Rashes In The Middle Of My Left Ribs, Symptoms Of Shingles?

I'm 63 & have been Type 1 Diabetic for 35 yrs. In the past few days, I've having a sharp inconsistent nerve pain in my left ribs. I also have a small rash (5 tiny blisters) to the middle of my left ribs. No other symptoms. Is this Shingles? And if so, is it contagious?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be shingles.

Consult a physician and get evaluated.

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
