Are Soft Stools Side Effect Of MAGOX400?

my dad is 83 yrs old,was in hospital for a week, discharged on june 27 2014. MD ODERED for him to take MAGOX 1 tab every day. I brought the over counter MAGOX400,PHARMACY said it was the same as the RX. YESTERDAY AND TODAY HE STARTED HAVING VERY SOFT STOOL,NOT RUNNY. IWANTED TO KNOW IS THIS A SIDE EFFECT OF MAGOX400? he was in the hospital for a UTI,DEHYDRATION.LIVES AT HOME

This medication (Mag-Ox 400) is a mineral supplement prescribed in severe diarrhea to replace magnesium faster than you can replace it from your diet.
Mag-Ox 400 Magnesium Tablets has laxative effect (diarrhea).
Yes,very soft stool is a side effect of this tablet.
