Are Stomach Pain, Fever And Fatigue Normal After Appendix Surgery?

My daughter ruptured her appendix early August, was hospitalized 10 days and followed with several antibiotics. She had Arthroscopic surgery 9/26, and the appendix was removed along with a fecalith. There was still quite a bit of inflammation, but she s recovered well and has been back to school, with physical restrictions, since 10/3. Today she has been home from school with a stomach ache, low fever (99-100), aches, and weakness/fatigue. There s a flu virus locally - should I be concerned?

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

If your daughter has recovered from the surgery and if it has passed more than 15 days then stomach pain or mild fever could be related to past history of surgery.

You can do abdominal ultrasound of her to check for any pathology inside abdomen or infection.

The possible causes could be acute gastritis or gastroenteritis which could be mostly due to viral infection or sometimes due to bacterial infection.
She can go for routine blood count,ESR,urinalysis.

She may require h2 blockers like ranitidine or proton pump inhibitors likepantoprazole,rabeprazole etc with cryoprotective drugs like sucralfate,misoprostol etc.

It underlying cause is H pylori then you will require triple drug regimen means two antibiotics and PPI.
