Are Suppositories Effective For Treatment Of External Hemorrhoid?

I am 31 years old female. After delivery of my first child, I got external hemorrhoid. Its been 20 months since I have it. Saw GP and was told that hemorrhoid is very swollen and was prescribed the suppositories for 12 nights(1per night). I am wandering would my hemorrhoid gone forever after this course? If not then do I need to get surgery done to remove it? Should I remove it? Can it become cancerous at any stage? I feel no discomfort with this hemorrhoid besides itching. What should I do? Is laser surgery better option, and is it available in melbourne, australia? Anything else you suggest I should do so it goes away without going through any surgery. I have had laproscopy done for endometriosis and to remove the cyst from my right ovary, if this helps. Thanks.
