Are Swollen Ankle And Numbness In Big Toe Post An Injury A Cause For Concern?
I rolled my left ankle, it bent at a 90 degree angle and I heard a snap. It is swollen, but only directly over where the tendon attaches to the 5th metatarsal, it hurts when foot is pronated, but otherwise can be limped on. My big toe is numb and tingly, and I have general pain on the whole ankle area extending up my calf on the outside of my leg. Is this considered minor ? It hurts but isn t unbearable unless I try to bear weight on it.
As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.
You can also apply icepacks for faster recovery. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated. In that case, you might require an MRI scan also.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
