Are There Any Side Effects Of Galvus Met?

Hello Doctor ! This is Nadeem Khan from India. I would like to seed your kind advice for the side effects of Galvus Met ( Vildagliptin 50 mg and Metformin HCL ph. EUR 500 mg ). Please suggest me the side effects of this medicine if taken for a long period. Thank You

Hi Mr Nadeem Khan. Welcome to HCM. Both vildaglipitin and metformin has its own side effects. But remember your has put this drug weighing benefits against risks involved in taking this. Common side effects of vildaglipitin are chills, decreased blood sugar, headaches, gatro esophageal reflux, tremors, weakness. Hepatic impairment (liver function abnormalities) may occur which is serious side effect but it is rare. If u develop jaundice or other signs suggestive of liver dysfunction should discontinue Galvus Met and contact their physician immediately. Metformin has a serious side effect called lactic acidosis, but fortunately this is also a rare complication. So dont get tensed your blood sugar control is of prime importance than these side effects. In your case benefits of this drug might outweigh the side effects. All the best. Regards
