Are There Any Side Effects Of Taking Predisone With Amox-Clav?

Hi, my son has had a ear ache, sore throat and vertigo for a few days. I took him to Urgent Care his primary Doc. and E.R. when it was at it s worst. He did one day two doses 15 ml of Amoxicillan then 2nd day he was switched to Amox-Clavulanate 5 ml twice a day. Then the E.R. Doc. gave him one dose of Decadron and prescirbed Predisone 10 mg once per. day witch he s to take along with the Amox-Clav. He has a thick syrup like mucos substance on his tongue that is hard to get to break free from his tongue. Could this be a side affect of the Meds?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Probably, he is suffering from acute pharyngitis with Eustachian tube blockage. Thick mucus may be due to infection/sinus drainage, use salt water gargling and water vapour inhalation.

Use tablet Mucomix or tablet Ambroxal twice dosage according to body weight. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water and continue above treatment.

If symptoms not improved, please consult ENT specialist, he/she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
