Are Weakness And Sweating During The Night Common In The Elderly?

My 83 year old mother said she woke up last night sweating a lot and felt weak inside her body. She got up and had a little something to eat and then after about 45 minutes went back to bed and sleep till morning and was fine in the morning. I was just wondering if this would be anything like a small heart attack or just nothing

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on your description, sweating and tiredness in an elderly lady could have been caused due to the following:
1. Decreased blood glucose levels.
2. Angina pectoris.
Kindly do the following things promptly for knowing the underlying cause.
1. Random plasma glucose and Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels.
2. Pulse rate and blood pressure.
3. Electrocardiogram (ECG).
4. Echo cardiogram and Doppler studies.
Kindly consult Physician or Cardiologist with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
All the best.
