Are Weakness & Increased Appetite Side Effects Of Duzela?

I am taking duzela 30 as prescribed by my neurologist for muscle spasm near the neck area. However when I did not take the medicines for 3 days (because of non availability), I experienced nauseatic feeling throughout the day, weakness and pain in legs, and increased apetite. Also I was feeling sad. Are these side effects of the medicines ? Please let me know.

Hi,

Duzela contains duloxetine that belongs to the group of antidepressant medications known as serotonin noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors or SNRIs is used in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorder, diabetic nerve pain, neuropathic pain, stress urinary incontinence, fibromyalgia etc. It increases the chemical mediators like serotonin and noradrenaline in the brain that helps to calm the brain and relax the nerves as well as treating the illness. Stopping Duzela abruptly may cause unpleasant side effects that is known as withdrawal syndromes. Withdrawal syndromes usually start within 24-48 hours after taking the last dose. Withdrawal syndromes are nausea or feeling unwell, weakness, tiredness, fatigue, leg pain, changes in appetite, mood swings, depression, sadness, tingling sensation on. the skin, dizziness, irritability etc. So, you should not stop taking this medication abruptly and without your doctor's advice to avoid withdrawal syndromes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
