Arthritis Like Symptoms, Weight Gain After Using Vivelle Dot Patch After Complete Hysterectomy. Increased Dose Will Help?
Hello, I had a complete hysterectomy (no ovaries) 6 months ago. Since then I having been using the Vivelle dot 0.0375 patch twice weekly. I have been experiencing terrible arthritis like symptoms, and have gain a significant amount of weight. Do you think my aches & pains would be alleviated by increasing my dosage? Thank you.

Vivelle dot is transdermal oestrogen delivery system. One of the side effects of using sex hormone like oestrogen is retention, this along with contributions of postoperative fluid retention and lack of physical activity would have been the reason for weight increase. joint pain is unlikely to be due to oestrogen. Local application of hot fomentation and analgesic will definitely help.
