Baby Has Acid Reflux, Coughs After Feeds, Not Able To Burp. Should It Be Given Ranitidine Shot ?

Hi Doctor,
My 7 month old baby girl has acid reflux....she coughs most of the time after the feeds and finds it difficult to burp after the feeds too...Her paediatrician advised us to wait for 2 weeks from the last check up and come back if these symptoms still persist...Now that my baby has been having them and finds it difficult during the nights, we were wondering if we need to get her a shot of Ranitidine. Is it good or what side effects does it have on a 7month 1 week old?

Hi,
At this age having acid reflux is not common.
There is possibility of having more flow of milk while sucking.
Guide feeding by keeping nipple between two fingers and then feed.
By doing this she will have her nose open and will have smooth breathing and at the same time proper flow of milk will go directly in her mouth.
Avoid feeding while sleeping.
If there is no improvement then consult pediatrician.
Ok and take care.
