Baby Has Vomiting, Loose Motion, Taking Lactogen Feed. What Can Be Done?

Hi, my baby is 1 year 4 months old,now he is suffering from severe vomitings n loose motions since 4days, he was very active but now she is not like earlier, she is not taking he food n anything as earlier. he is taken lactogin feed. Please reply me what could be done to make he as earlier. Here in local i consulted a Dr. he said that it is food infection , so pease let me know what i can do for her to get all her strengths back thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

After a episode of diarrhea it takes some time for the baby to come back to the normal.
Your baby may not accept much during a episode because of nausea. So because of the decreased intake she may loose weight.

During a episode of loose motions monitor the baby for signs of dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5. Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.
Normally oral rehydration solution is given to replace the salts and water. Any fluid containing salt and sugar can also be given.
In case of further dehydration the child requires Intravenous fluids.
