Baby Has Wet Belly Button, Dark Green Loose Stool. What Could Be The Reason?

why is my 3 months old baby s belly button still wet? why is his poo dark green liquid paste for past 20 days? His bowels open every 3rd day. He is a bottle fed baby for past 7 days. I have stopped breast feeding him as i have undergone a breast surgery for breast abscess last week. I was on antibiotics for past one month to treat my abscess (while i was breast feeding) .

Pediatrician 's  Response
Belly button is wet because some infection is there or some time granuloma which is present there may cause wet umbilicus. Umbilicus should be cleaned with betadine and should be kept dry. Antibacterial powder can be instilled on belly button. If granloma mass is there CuSO4(copper sulfate ) crystal can be kept on granuloma after your doctor advice. The dark green liquid paste stool may be due to change to formula feed or sometimes it is normal for infants. If it is foulsmelling or too watery it is due to infection. Sterilise bottle properly and try to start exclusive breast feeds
