Back Injury, Ct Scan Shows Minor Scoliosis, Minor Retrolisthesis. Physiotherapy Advised. Suggestions?

Hi,

I fell down my stairs a few years back and I hurt my back, CT scan showed minor scoliosis and minor retrolithesis.
4 years one my back pain is getting worse, my GP referred me to Physio, without seeing any consultant I was passed to the Orthotist Dept for a back support. Will this help my back or should I insist on seeing a specialist. Thanks for any advise you can give me Deborah

Hello Deborah,
Welcome at HCM.

I have read complete details of your question.

It looks from your details that you had injury to your back about 4 yr back.At present you are having back pain & your MRI did shown retrolisthesis with scoliosis.

The cause of present pain is retrolisthesis which means that one vertebrae is not in right relation with other or there is displacement of one vertebrae over the other. There are different grades of this displacement. In early grades the treatment is to support the back with brace while in later stages other treatment like surgery should be taken place.

As there is development of scoliosis, its mean that your retrolisthesis is not in early stage,it may have advanced component, this may need surgery for correction. For this you should consult to a orthopedic doctor. After proper clinical examination he may advice for that.

Hope this all will help you.

With best wishes.
