Bad Congestion,cough,throat Pain.

I have had bad congestion and cough for about two and a half weeks now, and it is still here. I went to the doctors office, they gave me 1500 grams of amoxycillin ever 12 hours, did nothing. Now i am taking zithromax , and it has done a little. I just woke up today, and my throat was in pain every time i swallowed or coughed. It is still hurting, even though i just drank about a liter of water. Help please? :)
