I have a grapefruit sized cyst next to the bowel found on a laposscopy oepration I have itp so it was considered risky to remove at that time as my platelet levals were 74 surgon says its safe to leave as its not causing any problem s at the moment and may go on own I know I've had it for 6 months as it showed up on a scan he never even offeredfollow up scans is this right I carnt get this out of my head
Hi ! You have not mentioned for what you were operated by laparoscope. One should know the origin of the cyst which can be known by a CT or MRI scan. Irrespective of the origin, if it has not caused you any symptoms for last six months, most likely it must be diagnosed as a benign lesion for leaving it undisturbed at that point of time when your platelets were low. However, even if you do not have any symptoms due to this, it is advisable to follow it up every six months to see if it is growing or not. You can discuss with your surgeon who has personally seen the cyst by laparoscope which is more confirmatory than any other mode of investigation. Take care and do not worry as it is there for some months now.
